What a nitrous oxide canister actually is
People call the same thing by half a dozen names. Nitrous oxide canister, N₂O cylinder, nang tank, nitrous bottle, cream charger. Around Melbourne you will hear all of them in one night. They all mean a pressurised steel or aluminium container of nitrous oxide gas at food grade purity, with a valve on top.
The only difference that matters when you order is size. The small 8.2g bulb screws straight into a standard cream whipper and gives you one charge. Anything from 640g up connects through a pressure regulator and hose and runs a whole service off one cylinder. Same gas, same purity, very different amount of it.

Small bulbs or a large canister
If you own a 500ml whipper and make cream a few times a month, buy the 8.2g chargers. They screw in, they are cheap per charge at that volume, and there is nothing else to set up.
If you are a cafe, a dessert bar or a home cook who does this every weekend, the maths flips somewhere around 30 chargers a day. A 3.3L tank holds the gas of roughly 260 bulbs, costs $90, and leaves you with one cylinder to hand back instead of a bin of steel. The 3.3L is the tank we sell more of than anything else, and that is not an accident.
Connecting a canister to your whipper
The 8.2g bulb needs nothing extra. Every larger canister connects to a dispenser through a pressure regulator and an adaptor hose, and those are sold separately. If you are not sure what fittings your whipper takes, text us on 0468 893 888 before you order and we will tell you straight. Buying nitrous oxide in Melbourne
You can buy your own nitrous oxide if you are 18 or over and you are buying food grade gas for the kitchen. That is what every canister on this page is. Order on the site or text us, and the driver checks your ID at handover. No ID, no handover.
We sell under the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act here in Victoria, which means culinary use only and nobody under 18, and we hold that line every single night. If that is not what you are after, this is not the shop for you.

Orders go out as soon as they land. In the CBD and inner city that usually means 10 to 20 minutes, in the inner suburbs 10 to 30, and out to places like Sunshine, Box Hill and Glen Waverley around 25 to 30. We are open from midday until 2am Monday to Wednesday and until 5am Thursday to Sunday. The night before a public holiday we run until 6am.
Your empty canisters come back to us
Tell us you have empties when you place your next order and the driver takes them away at no charge. Steel and aluminium cylinders are recyclable and have no business in a kerbside bin or a laneway. It is the easiest part of the whole thing and it is on the empty tank collection page.
