What is a cream whipper?
A cream whipper — also called a whipped cream dispenser or cream dispenser — is a sealed canister that turns liquid cream into whipped cream on demand. You pour cream into the bottle, screw on a cream charger, and the nitrous oxide dissolves into the cream under pressure. Press the lever and it comes out aerated, holding its shape for hours. The same tool makes savoury espumas, cocktail foams and rapid N₂O infusions, which is why you’ll find one in home kitchens, cafés and cocktail bars alike. The dispenser is the reusable hardware; the charger is the single-use gas that powers each fill.
Types of cream dispenser
Most whipped cream dispensers fall into three groups. Standard 8g-charger whippers — like the 500ml dispenser we stock — take one 8g (8.2g) charger per fill and suit home cooks, cafés and dessert stations. Professional dispensers use the same charger fitting but with heavier construction and larger capacity for high-turnover kitchens. Tank-fed setups skip cartridges entirely: a large N₂O tank connects to the dispenser through a regulator and hose, which is the cheaper-per-gram route once you’re whipping all day. Pick the format to match your volume first, then the brand — our best cream chargers guide compares them side by side.
Which cream whipper should you get?
The Skywhip Pro 500ml Cream Whipper makes whipped cream, desserts and sauces at the press of a button, and it’s the dispenser we stock and stand behind. For flavoured creams and cocktail foams, add the Skywhip flavoured silent nozzles — quieter dispensing, three to a box. If you want everything in one hit, the Supremewhip bundle pairs a dispenser with the chargers to run it. The 500ml capacity is the sweet spot for most kitchens: big enough for a service, small enough to shake and store easily.
How to use a cream whipper
- Pour chilled cream into the dispenser — don’t fill past the max line. Add sugar or flavouring now if you want it.
- Screw the head on firmly, then load one 8.2g charger into the holder and twist until you hear the gas release.
- Shake firmly four to six times to dissolve the gas into the cream.
- Turn the dispenser upside down, hold it vertical, and press the lever to dispense.
- Store charged and upright in the fridge — it stays good for several days. Release remaining pressure before you open it to clean.

Pair it with the right chargers
Supremewhip 8.2g chargers use the standard 8g fitting, compatible with every dispenser we sell — screw in and go. Going through bulbs quickly? A large-format N₂O tank holds far more gas per cylinder — note that tanks connect to a dispenser via regulator and hose fittings rather than screwing in directly. Cleaning & caring for your whipper
A dispenser lasts years if you clean it after every use. Discharge any leftover gas, unscrew the head, and remove the piston, gasket and nozzle. Wash each part in warm soapy water, give the tubes a quick brush, then rinse and air-dry before reassembling. Don’t put the head in a dishwasher — the heat can perish the seals. If cream ever stops dispensing cleanly, a worn gasket is usually the culprit; a fresh seal brings it back to life. Keep the bottle out of direct heat and it’ll keep pace with the busiest kitchen.
